WEEK IN REVIEW:
Began working with Football for Peace, a non-profit promoting peace through football.
Read materials on fundraisers and events: Corporate Tournament, Youth Tournament, and Charity Golf Day to understand main objectives and goals of each event from provided brochures.
Started outreach efforts to recruit teams and participants for tournaments by drafting outreach emails for the Charity Golf Day, awaiting supervisor approval.
Researched and listed over 35 football clubs in London for potential tournament outreach.
Set up Football for Peace email accounts for project-related communication.
Strategized to revamp social media accounts to boost engagement and promote events.
Addressed and brainstormed solutions for event-related concerns like time restrictions.
Began creating a project webpage on Squarespace, working on a rough draft with a basic structure, colour scheme, and initial pictures.
REFLECTION:
This week we began working with the organisation Football for Peace. This non-profit charity works to promote peace, tolerance, and understanding among communities and nations through the universal appeal of football (Football For Peace, n.d.). The concept is based on the idea that football, being the world's most popular sport, has a unique ability to bring people together, transcending cultural, religious, and political differences.
To begin the week we were given materials to read up on. These documents detailed the fundraisers and events we will be working on during our time with the organisation. These events included the Corporate Tournament, Youth Tournament, and Charity Golf Day. From these brochures we were able to understand what Football for Peace’s main objectives and goals were for each of the events.
We were also tasked with beginning outreach for the tournaments to get any teams or participants involved. We drafted compelling outreach emails for both the corporate tournament and the golf day, ensuring our messages are clear, engaging, and persuasive. While awaiting approval for the outreach email from our FfP supervisor, we began researching potential businesses and local football clubs to form tournament teams, focusing on identifying companies that align with the organisation's objectives. I did some research and created a list of over 35 different football clubs in the London area who we could potentially reach out to for these tournaments.
In the office, we successfully set up our FFP email accounts, establishing dedicated communication channels for all project-related correspondence. Additionally, we strategized on revamping the Football for Peace social media accounts to increase engagement and effectively promote the upcoming events. Lastly, we addressed concerns related to our upcoming events such as time restrictions, and we began brainstorming ways to overcome these potential challenges. These efforts collectively enhanced our readiness and helped position us for success here in our time with Football for Peace.
I also began making my projects webpage on Squarespace. I started by creating the all pages I will need and linking them together. Then I picked a color scheme and and started adding some pictures to the home page. This is a very rough draft and in the weeks to come I will be adjusting it much more.
