  • Our group worked together in-person at Regent’s University, not meeting at the Football for Peace office this week.

  • Attended an online meeting with our Football for Peace supervisor to discuss event updates as the MVP Tournaments have been rescheduled from June 30 to September 6 due to the Euros. The Charity Golf Day remains scheduled for July 11.

  • Received approval for the charity golf day outreach email draft and began reaching out to companies and organisations.

  • Created a presentation plan for a social media revamp for Football for Peace, to be presented to the FfP team next week.

    • Examined the current state of Football for Peace’s social media, noting low activity and engagement.

    • Emphasised the importance of active social media for nonprofit organisations.

    • Researched successful social media strategies of other nonprofits.

    • Curated a detailed social media plan aimed at increasing engagement and online donations.

Reflection:

We began the week by meeting with our project supervisor to discuss the progress of our first week with Football for Peace (FfP) and the upcoming week's goals. We also discussed the current state of our project proposal drafts and provided updates on how our project webpages were coming along. Since starting my project on Squarespace, I have been playing around with the features of the website trying to find how I want my project portfolio to look. This will be a lengthy process which will come together more as I have more physical work to show from my time at Football for Peace.

On Tuesday we all met up to work together in-person in a study room at Regent’s University for a few hours as we would not be meeting at the Football for Peace offices this week. It was here we had an online meeting with our FfP supervisor and discussed updates about the upcoming events. The MVP Tournaments have now been moved from the 30 June to 6 September due to the Euros taking place this summer so we will have more time to reach out to more sponsors and participants before the event, which is a positive. The charity golf day will remain the same as it takes place on 11 July.

We also got approval from our supervisor about the draft of the charity golf day outreach email we drafted last week. With this approval, we began to reach out to the companies and organisations on the list we had created the week prior for the golf day event. We have yet to hear back from anyone but will continue this outreach into next week, hopefully as we send more emails we will hear some responses soon.

Our FfP supervisor also has asked us to create a presentation about a social media revamp plan for Football for Peace. We will be presenting this next week in office on Tuesday for members of the FfP team. We began by examining the current state of Football for Peace’s social media, noting that they are not particularly active on any social platform. This was one of the major points we wanted to bring up to the team as having an active social media is crucial for organisations like theirs as almost 30% of donations to a charity are from online donations (Parker, 2022). Creating this presentation offered us an in depth look into social media marketing for nonprofits. By researching and examining other successful organisations' social media pages, I believe we really set both ourselves and Football for Peace on a path for success as we were able to curate a detailed social media plan for the coming months that should inspire engagement from FfP followers on their social platforms. I am looking forward to presenting this to the FfP team and hearing their feedback!
