About the Campaign:

Rehydrating the Earth is an environmental initiative that was launched by NGO Football for Peace. The campaign focuses on addressing the pressing issue of global water scarcity and environmental degradation through innovative and sustainable practices. Football for Peace leverages its diverse network of athletes and football clubs to raise awareness about environmental issues surrounding water and educate local youth communities about the importance of environmental leadership and sustainable practices.

The campaign's most recent efforts took place in Mozambique, where Football for Peace focused on the Water MVP Program in the Niassa Province. They trained over 200 at-risk youth in water restoration techniques, resulting in new water bodies and dams across villages, benefiting over 6,000 people with increased water and food security. This initiative not only provided essential water resources but also empowered the community to build resilience against environmental challenges and poverty.

Football for Peace’s Rehydrating the Earth campaign is a holistic approach to environmental conservation that combines sport, education, and grassroots activism to make a positive impact on people, the planet’s water resources, and the earth's ecosystems.

Progress:

Our Roles:

Communication and Documentation:  Created comprehensive communication pagers for both the Rehydrating Mozambique trip and the UN Think Tank event hosted by Football for Peace and the International Groundwater Resources Assessment Centre. These pagers served as key informational documents summarising the objectives, actions, and outcomes of these projects.

Social Media Engagement: Developed captions for a YouTube video related to the Rehydrating the Earth campaign, helping to communicate the campaign’s impact to a broader audience. Also generated ideas for water education social media posts, contributing to the campaign's awareness and educational outreach efforts.

Collaboration with Baringa Consulting: In our time at Football for Peace, they began working with consulting company Baringa who was helping the NGO create a solid 10 year action plan. We participated in meetings with Baringa Consulting as they worked with Football for peace to develop a 10-year action plan. During these meetings, you created detailed meeting minutes, ensuring that key discussion points and decisions were recorded. Developed a stakeholder chart from your meeting notes, enabling FFP and Baringa to easily identify and manage stakeholders, ensuring clarity on deliverables for each stakeholder or partner.

Research and Planning: Researched sport and water-based events occurring within the next 10 years, which could be strategic opportunities for FFP’s involvement. This research was used to create a monthly calendar of events, aiding in long-term planning and engagement strategies for FFP.
